Alma Boys Lose Close Game to Kenesaw

The Alma boys basketball team lost their non-conference game against Kenesaw Saturday, December 2nd.  Alma started the game off taking the lead 11-9 at the end of the first.  Kenesaw quickly recovered the deficit and went on to outscore the Cardinals 10-4 in the second quarter.  That put Alma down 19-15 at the halfway point.  Kenesaw continued with the hot shooting and outscored Alma 20-8 in the third quarter.  Alma shooters got hot in the 4th quarter and outscored the Blue Devils 27-11. Jackson McKenzie drove the lane with seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 50 points each.  This forced the game into overtime.  Kenesaw would score 8 points in overtime to Alma’s 4 to give them the win.  Jackson McKenzie and David Ehrke led the scoring for the Cardinals with 18 points apiece. David Ehrke was 4-8 from behind the arc. Cooper Wright pulled down 8 rebounds. Jackson McKenzie had three blocked shots.  Alma will continue their season with a home game against Elm Creek Tuesday, December 5th.
