Alma Boys Rally in 4th Quarter to Beat Arapahoe

The Alma boys team trailed the Arapahoe Warriors for 3 quarters.  A big offensive 4th quarter and a big defensive stand lead to the 63-56 victory.  Alma was slow to start in the first quarter with only 9 points to the 13 of Arapahoe.  David Ehrke had the hot hand with 8 of the 9 points.  David had two 3 pointers and one field goal.  Ty Heft was 1 for 2 from the line for the other point for the Cardinals.

The SEcond quarter had more balanced scoring for the boys with 3 people getting points.  Jackson McKenzie had a great quarter after being off since Christmas with a broken thumb.  He had 7 points by the way of one 3 pointer, one 2 pointer, and 2 for 2 from the line.  Ty Heft and David Ehrke each added 4 points to make the Cardinals total for the quarter 15.  david had one 2 point basket and was 2-3 from the line.  Ty had one 3 point basket and was 1 of 2 from the line.  They were not able to contain the Warriors as they had 21 points that quarter.  This out the Cardinals down 33-24 at the half.

The Cardinals shooting became hot in the 3rd quarter and they outscored Arapahoe 21-15.  david Ehrke had the hot hand again with 10 points this quarter.  He had two 3 point baskets, one 2 point basket and was 2-2 from the line.  Ty Heft also hit from beyond the arc with one 3 point basket. He added another 2 point basket and was 1-2 from the line.  Burke Boehler added to the 3 pointers with one of his own and Jackson McKenzie added one two-point basket.  This put Alma behind 45-49 at the end of the third quarter.

Alma’s steady free throw shooting propelled them to the win over the Arapahoe Warriors.  They shot 13 free throws in the 4th quarter and they made 9 of those while they held the Warriors to just 7 points.  The scoring was led by Jackson McKenzie and David Ehrke each with 8 points.  Jackson earned most of his on the free throw line where he was 4-5.  He also added two 2 point baskets.  David Ehrke was also at the line 6 times making 5 of those.  He added another 3 point basket.  Cooper Wright made a basket from the paint for his two points and Ty heft was 0-2 from the line.  David Ehrke ended is last home game with 30 points on the night.  Jackson McKenzie had 17, Ty Heft had 11, Burke Boehler had 3 and Cooper Wright had 2.  Arapahoe was 1 of 8 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter.

Alma had 30 rebounds on the night against the Warriors.  Those were led by Cooper Wright and Jackson McKenzie each with 8.  Jackson McKenzie also had 4 steals on the night.  Ty heft led the assists with 7.  Congratulations to the Cardinals on a great regular season game.
