Alma Boys Win Against Axtell

The first quarter was close scoring for the boys, ending with Alma leading 15-14. Leading the points in the first quarter for Alma was senior Cooper Wright scoring 8 points out of 15. Wright scored two lay-ups, a three pointer and one of his two free-throws. Seniors Ty Heft and David Ehrke scored 5 points together to round out the scoring.

Axtell beat the boys in points during the second quarter, scoring 17 points to our 13. Senior David Ehrke scored the most out of the boys in the second quarter, having one field goal and two three-pointers. The boys ending the half down by 3, making the score 28-31.

The Cardinal boys came back during the third quarter scoring 17 points. Axtell only scored 10. Making the score 45-41 with Alma in the lead. Ehrke and Wright both scored 7 points the third quarter. Sophomore Burke Boehler helped out by scoring a lay-up.

This was a close game all the way through. But when the fourth quarter started, Alma was ready to win. The Cardinals scored 21 points during the last quarter of the game, while Axtell only scored 7. Most of our points came from free-throws. Ehrke made all of his free-throws, bring the score up by 6. Boehler also scored all 6 of his free-throws. Sophomore Isaac McCurdy got in at the end of the fourth quarter and scored the last points of the game. Ending the score 66-48.

Senior David Ehrke leads in points during this game with 24 total points. Cooper Wright came close in second, scoring 20 points.  This was a great win by the boys.
