Alma Ends Vikings Season

The Alma Cardinals played the Bertrand Vikings for the first round of subdistricts. Starting the game, Kayla Kindler scored a field goal, followed by Tiffany Wells with a two-point shot. Abby Cervera swished a three-point shot. Tiffany Wells drove to the hoop, got fouled, and made one of two free throws, she then made a shot from down low. Dakota Hughes got put on the free throw line and made two free throws. At the end of the first quarter, the Cardinals were ahead with a score of 15 while Bertrand had 7.

In the second quarter, Maddie Brugh made three out of four free throws which allowed her to get the 300th point of her senior basketball season. Shiann Spady was strong down low and scored a field goal. Abby Cervera finished the second quarter scoring two points and making the score 22. Bertrand was four behind the Cardinals going into halftime.

Coming out of the halftime, the Cardinals were determined to win this game to progress into the tournament. Abby Cervera started the girls off making a three-point shot and a field goal. Shiann Spady, Maddie Brugh, and Abby Cervera all made a field goal, helping the score reach 33 points.

In the fourth quarter, both teams fought hard. Alma scored all the points in the fourth quarter by making free throws. Alma made 11 out of 17 free throws. Maddie Brugh made two, Dakota Hughes made three, Shiann Spady made one, Abby Cervera made three, and Kayla Kindler made two. The girls ended the game with a score of 44-35.
