Alma Has a Successful Districts Meet

Alma Wrestlers had a great weekend of wrestling at the D-3 District held in Elm Creek.
Unfortinatley the season cam to an end for some of the wrestlers. Our two Spaniards Marc Ramirez and Diego Campos, CJ Graf, Kyle Johnson, and Hector Lugo were unable place in the top 4 and earn a chance to wrestle in the State Tournament this week. Final stats and info will be given next week. Three Wrestlers were able to wrestle their way into the Championship round and earn a trip to the State Tournament this week in Omaha.
Sophomore Daylan Russell (145lb) has a record of 40-9 with 30 pins and has 49 take downs this season, was able to pin his way to 3rd place with a pin over Tucker Schebarth (Harvard). Daylan will face Willian White (Sutherland) in the first round at State. Junior Tyson McCurdy (170lb) with a record of 32-13 with 12 pins, 43 takedowns, and 30 escapes placed 3rd (Tyson had the top three ranked wrestlers in the state at the 170 lb weight class at Districts, all three Tyson has wrestled multiple times this year which I feel has prepared him to go state and bring back a medal!). Tyson will face Kaieb Pofahl (Neligh-Oakdale) in the first round. Tyson has beaten Pfoahl twice this year and plans on continuing that streak on Thursday! Joseph Felix (160lb) with a record of 32-14 with 24 pins and 62 takedowns this year lost a close match 2-3 against
Gavin Robertson (South Loup) and earned 4th place and a trip to the Sate Tournament this weekend in Omaha. He will face Karsen Hunter (Bayard) in the first round. Wrestling will begin for Class D on Thursday at 4:00pm, Friday at 12:30pm and Saturday at 8:30am.
