Alma JV Gets Third at Franklin Tournament

The Alma junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Franklin to play in a tournament including Franklin, Southern Valley, Wilcox-Hildreth, and Alma. For their first game, Alma played in the alternative gym against Franklin while Wilcox-Hildreth and Southern Valley played in the main gym. For the first set against Franklin, Alma led for most of the set but falling short ending the first set with a score of 24-26. Maloree Graf led the team in kills with six, she also had 21 assists and one ace. Shiann Spady was behind her with three kills and Karri Christensen had two. Shiann Spady and Maddie Ehrke led the team, both having five kills.
For the second set, Maloree Graf led the team with kills again with four, and Shiann Spady had two. Shiann Spady had two ace serves. Kaitlyn Cook and Maloree both served one ace. Maddie Ehrke led the team in digs with a total of six, with Shiann right behind with five. Alma lost the second set 16-25.
This meant they played in the tournament for third or fourth against Southen Valley.  For the first set, Maloree Graf led in kills with ten. Kaitlyn Cook and Karri Christensen both had two kills. Michelle Lujan led in aces with three. Maddie Ehrke, Shiann Spady, and Kaitlyn Cook all had one ace.  The girls ended the first set with a win, 25-18.  The next set was very close, ending it 25-23 with a win over Southern Valley.  This allowed the girls to place third. Graf had nine kills, Lujan with three, and Spady with two. The team had six aces, each starter having one. Maddie Ehrke had seven digs, Karri Christensen and Maloree Graf had five digs. The Cardinals left Franklin with one loss and one win.  This was the last game for the Junior Varsity this year.
