Alma Struggled in Alma/Bertrand/Cambridge Triangular

The Alma Volleyball team had a challenging night last Thursday. The Cardinals faced the Cambridge Trojans and the Bertrand Vikings in the ABC triangular held in Alma August 31. The girls faced  Cambridge for the first game of the triangular as well as for the season. Cambridge came out strong taking the Cardinals in two sets 25-20 and 25-14. Jadyn Heckenlively led the Cardinals in kills with eight followed by Maddie Brugh with five and Tiffany Wells with three. Brugh also added one ace serve for the Cardinals. Wells and Heckenlively combined for a total of three blocks in the match. Wells also led the Cardinals in digs with 10 followed by Dakota Hughes with 6, Heckenlively with 4, Brugh with 3 and Maddie Ehrke and Abby Waldo with two digs a piece. The Cardinals then faced the Bertrand Vikings. The Cardinals came out strong but wasn’t able to get the win against a hard experienced Vikings team. The Cardinals lost in two sets 25-20 and 25-18. Seniors Jadyn Heckenlively and Maddie Brugh led the team in kills with six a piece followed by Tiffany Wells with four. Dakota Hughes, Shiann Spady, and Abby Waldo all contributed one kill a piece. Heckenlively, Waldo, Wells, and Graf all had one ace in the match. Heckenlively and Wells also pulled down two blocks a piece. Maddie Brugh led the team in assists with 10. The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday, September 5 at Wilcox High School where the Cardinals will take on the Northern Valley Huskies at 5:00 followed by the Wilcox/Hildreth Falcons at the conclusion of the Northern Valley-Alma game.
