Alma Takes on the Eagles and Roughriders

The Alma Volleyball Team traveled to Southwest on Thursday, September 27th, to face the Southwest Roughriders and Overton Eagles. The team started out against Overton, dropping the first set 20-25 and ultimately dropping the second set with a close score of 22-25. Kayla Kindler led the team in kills with 9, followed by Carlee Stuhmer with 7. Dakota Hughes led the team in digs with 8. Abigail Waldo led the team in service aces with 3. She also led the team in assists with 12, followed by Maloree Graf with 6.
For their last game of the night, the Cardinals took on the Southwest Roughriders. The team lost the first set with a score of 14-25. Even with two varsity players out due to injuries during that night’s games, the girls came out swinging and took the second set 25-21. In the heart-pounding third set, with the team down 16-24, Tiffany Wells served 10 straight serves and the girls ultimately won the set 26-24. Three players reached double-digit kills: Kayla Kindler with 13, Carlee Stuhmer with 12, and Tiffany Wells with 10. Dig leaders for the game where Carlee Stuhmer with 21, Dakota Hughes with 13, and Tiffany Wells with 10. Carlee Stuhmer led in ace serves with 4. Abigail Waldo led in assists with 17, followed by Maloree Graf with 15.
The Junior Varsity also had a good night. After losing a two set match to Overton, they conquered Southwest in two sets. A great night all around for the Cardinals!
