Alma Unable to Overcome Northern Valley’s Second Quarter Run

Alma traveled to Northern Valley to take on the Huskies on January 2nd.  The boys game was a high scoring affair.  Alma outscored the Huskies 12-10 in the first quarter.  Scoring was lead by Burke Boehler with 5 points.  This was one 3 pointer and one field goal.  Cooper Wright who had 4 points from the line.  He was 4-6 in free throws.  David Ehrke rounded out the Cardinal scoring with one 3 pointer.

Northern Valley got hot from beyond the arc in the 2nd quarter and put 23 points on the board to the Alma 10.  15 of those 23 points for Northern Valley were 3 pointers.  Alma had balanced scoring from the team.  Leading was Ty Heft with 4  points.  Cooper Wright was 2 for 3 from the free throw line.  Nathan Hock and David Ehrke each added a field goal.  This put the Cardinals down 33-22 at the half.

Alma was able to hold the Northern Valley Huskies to 13 points in the 3rd quarter while adding 13 points to their score.  The scoring for Alma was spread out among several players again.  Cooper Wright lead scoring with 5.  He had two field goals and was 1 of 2 from the line.   Ty Heft added another two field goals for 4 points and David Ehrke had one 3 pointer.  Burke Boehler for on the board with 1-2 from the line.   This left the score 46-35 at teh end of three in favor of the Huskies.

Alma was able had 10 points in the 4th and Northern Valley 15.  Alma was lead in scoring by David Ehrke and Burke Boehler.  Both boys had 2 field goals apiece for 4 points each.  Nathan Hock had one field goal for 2 points.  Overall the scoring for Alma was a great team effort.  David Ehrke had 12, Cooper Wright had 11, Burke Boehler had 10, Ty Heft had 8, and Nathan Hock had 4.

Alma had 8 steals as a team and was lead in rebounding by Myles McTee.  Myles had 5 Defensive rebounds and 2 offensive rebounds to lead the team.  David Ehrke and Cooper Wright each had one block each.  This win moved the Alma record to 500 with 5 wins and 5 losses.
