Alma Wins 3 Duals in Loup City

Alma Wrestlers traveled North to Loup City Friday afternoon for their last matches before the D3 District meet on Friday and Saturday.
Freshman Kyle Johnson wrestled well but was unable to get a win on the day, he will go into districts with a 18-28 record with 5 pins. Freshman Joshua Mapes who has improved every week got his first pin on the year and heads into Districts with the hope of getting a few more wins! Junior Hector Lugo went 3-2 with a pin on the day. His overall record 14-18 with 10 pins this year. Sophomore Joseph Felix went 4-1 on the day with two pins and improved his record to 26-18 and leads the team with 19 pins. Sophomore Tyson McCurdy went 5-0 on the day with two pins and has a record of 26-18 with 10 pins on the year. Tyson leads the team with the most Takedowns and Escapes with 32 each! Sophomore Mitchell Gehrig went 5-0 with 3 pins and heads to Districts with an 11-16 record with 5 pins. The lone Senior Jesus Felix went 4-1 on the day with 2 pins, his only loss coming in double overtime 5-6. Jesus has a record of 26-14 with 18 pins this season and looks to earn himself a trip to state this his last year. With the great wrestling the Alma team was able to win three duals over Arcadia/Loup City 24-21, Central City 36-24 and Scribner-Snyder 30-29! District Wrestling begins Friday afternoon in Amherst. Good luck and let’s reach the goal we all have… get to State!
