Amherst Offense Too Much For The Cardinals

Amherst brought their fast-paced sharp shooting to town this past Saturday.  The Cardinals held pace with the Broncos the first quarter scoring 16 to their 19.  The Cardinals were led in scoring by Ty Heft.  He had 3 threes.  Jackson McKenzie and Burke Boehler also added one 3 pointer a piece.  Cooper was 1 of two from the free throw line.

The second quarter had the Broncos outscoring the Cardinals 18-7.  Amherst defense held the Cardinals shooting from the field to a minimum during this quarter.  Jackson McKenzie had a three pointer and a field goal.  He was also 1 for 2 from the line.  David Ehrke was also 1 for 2 from the line.

The third quarter had the Broncos putting up 13 points to Cardinals 6.  All the scoring for this quarter came from Cooper Wright.  He had 3 field goals.

The 4th quarter was a closely matched affair with both teams putting up 17 points.  Although the Cardinals put up great numbers they were not able to overcome the earlier deficit.  Alma shot well from the line making 9 of 13.  David Ehrke led the quarter scoring 8.  He was 4 for 4 from the line and had two field goals.  Cooper Wright had a field goal and was 1 of 2 from the line.  Jared Asche shot 4 for 4 from the line and was a great asset from the bench.  Jackson McKenzie contributed a field goal to round out the scoring for the Cardinals.

Defensively, Jackson Shields made his presence known with 2 blocks.  The Cardinals also had 8 steals and 3 additional blocks.  Cooper Wright led the Cardinals with 7 rebounds.  Alma looks forward to hosting Southwest and Red Cloud this week.
