Cardinal Football Opened Season With Close Game Against the DCS Tigers

Alma traveled to Benkleman Friday August 25 to take on the Dundy County Stratton Tigers. Mother Nature called a time out in the 2nd quarter with a rain/lightening delay.  The game was held for about 45 minutes until the weather passed.  The combination of Kaleb Kindler and Burke Boehler holds a lot of promise for the Alma Cardinals this year.  The scoring summary by quarter follows. 

In the first quarter the Tigers started out with the first touchdown. Alma came back strong with Kaleb Kindler putting six points on the board with 8:48 left in the quarter. Dundy answered back scoring a touchdown and completed the two point conversion to take the lead and close out the first quarter. With the touchdown the Tigers ended the quarter with the lead 14-8.

The Tigers scored an early touchdown to start out the second quarter. With 3:55 left in the half the Cardinals responded with Kaleb Kindler scoring a touchdown to end the second quarter. The Ending score of the first half was 22-16 the Tigers still ahead.

In the third quarter Alma score the first touchdown of the game with Kaleb Kindler putting 6 points on the board with 1:58 left on the clock and Alma also completing the two point conversion with a Joseph Felix run. The Tigers responded right away putting another 8 points on the board to close out the third quarter. The ending score of the third quarter was 30-24 the Tigers still holding on to the lead.

In the fourth quarter The Tigers scored final touchdown of the game with 3:56 left on the clock.  This put the score 24-38.   

The Cardinals will continue their season with their first home this Friday, September 1st against the Northern Valley Huskies.
