Cardinals End the Season With a Hard Fight Against Hitchcock County

The Alma Cardinals played their last game against Hitchcock County on Thursday, February 15 at 7 pm. Dakota Hughes started the first quarter off for the Cardinals, scoring a field goal. Abby Cervera then made a three-pointer and a two-point shot. The ending score of the first quarter was 8-7 with Alma losing.

Starting the first quarter off for the Cardinals was Tiffany Wells with a field goal. Dakota Hughes then shot and made a three-pointer. The Cardinals allowed the Falcons to score 21 points in the second quarter while the Cardinals only scored five points in the second quarter, leading them to a score of 12-29.

The Cardinals scored eight points in the third quarter. Maddie Brugh scored a field goal starting the third quarter off, following, Kayla Kindler also made a two-point shot. Tiffany Wells was the last person to score for the Cardinals in the third quarter, making two field goals.

The score going into the fourth and last quarter was 45-20. The Cardinals fought hard trying to dig themselves out of the hole. Maddie Brugh and Abby Cervera made a total of three free throws to start the quarter off. Maddie Burgh then made a field goal that was followed by a made free throw by Shiann Spady. Maddie Brugh ended the game with two field goals.

The Alma Cardinals season ended and with that, they lose three seniors: Emma Smolik, Maddie Cervera, and Maddie Brugh.
