Girls Put Up Tough Fight in Kenesaw

The Alma Lady Cardinals traveled to Kenesaw Saturday, December 2nd to take on the Lady Blue Devils.  The Lady Cards stared off strong leading the game 8-6 in the first quarter. They girls kept the momentum going and led at the end of the half with a score of 17-11. Coming out of half time the girls had a rough time getting shots to fall.  This left the Cardinals behind 23-20.  Kenesaw had the hot shooting outscoring the 12-3 in the 3rd quarter.  Tiffany Wells scored the only basket for the Cardinals in the 3rd quarter.  The other point was added by Maddison Cervera.   The fourth quarter the team fought hard to regain their points but couldn’t quite overcome the 3rd quarter deficit. Alma tried to fight back with less than 20 seconds left but was unable to regain the lead.  They lost 30-34.
Dakota Hughes led the team with for scoring with nine points, Tiffany Wells not too far behind with six, and Madalyn Brugh and Madison Cervera both had five. Defensively Tiffany Wells led the team in rebounds with seven and Madison Cervera pulled down five.  Alma will look forward to hosting Elm Creek and Amherst in the coming week.
