Huskies Outscore the Cardinals

The Northern Valley Huskies from Kansas traveled up to Alma for the Cardinals to host their home opener of the season.  It was a high scoring affair by both teams.  The highlight of the game was Kaleb Kindler’s 79 yard kick return for a touchdown.  The game summary is as follows:

Northern Valley scored first with 10:22 left on the clock with Nick Stutsman’s 11 yard run.  Caden Bach ran the ball for the extra points.  Northern Valley leads 8-0.  Alma quickly scored with a Kaleb Kindler 6 yard run to get the score 6-8.  Nick Stutsman scored again with a 6 yard run to put Northern Valley ahead 6-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Northern Valley scored first in the second quarter with 11:10 left on the clock with Nick Stustman’s 40 yard run, and Caden Kinderkenecht scored the extra points. Putting the score at 6-22. Alma countered with Kaleb Kindler with a 33 yard pass from Burke Boehler. Putting the score to 14-22. Northern Valley came back with Caden Kinderknecht’s 37 yard run and Caden bach scoring the extra points. Putting the score at 14-30. Nick Stustsman ends the second Quarter with a 11 yard pass from Caden Kinderknecht, ending with a score of 14-36.

Alma Cardinals scored first in the third quarter with Kaleb Kindler’s 1 yard run with 9:23 left. Putting the score at 20-36. Alma scores again with Tyson McCurdy’s 1 yard run and Kaleb Kindler scores the extra pints. The Score is now at 28-36. Northern Valley countered with Nick Stutsman’s 28 yard run ending the Quarter 28-42.

Northern Valley scored first in the Fourth quarter with Nick Stuntsman’s 28 yard run  and a good 2 point conversion. Putting the score at 28-50. Alma countered with Burke Boehier’s 15 yard run. Putting the score at 34-50. Northern Valley came back with Nick Stustman’s 4 yard run. Putting the score at 34-56.  Alma’s Kaleb Kindler came in with a 79 yard kickoff return and scored the 2 point conversion. Putting the score 42-56. Northern Valleys Nick Stustman ends the fourth quarter with a 37 yard run, ending the game 42-62.

The defense was lead by Tyson McCurdy with 11 total tackles.  He was followed closely by Cooper Wright, Tanner Kauk, and David Ehrke with 9.  The Cardinals return to action when they travel to Franklin to take the Flyers for their homecoming.
