Lady Cardinals Take Close Loss to Hitchcock County

The Alma Girls Basketball Team took the long haul to Trenton, Nebraska to take on the Hitchcock County Falcons. Tiffany Wells was the top scorer in the first quarter putting up six points with Maddie Brugh not far behind with four. Dakota Hughes contributed to the score putting up two points and Abby Cervera made one free throw. Alma took the lead in the first quarter the score was 13-11.

Going into the second quarter Abby Cervera made a three-pointer while both Maddie Brugh and Shiann Spady accumulated two points and one free throw each. Tiffany Wells also put points on the board with two. The score was tied at halftime at 24-24.

Coming out after halftime Maddie Brugh made some big shots having seven points in the third quarter. Abby Cervera made yet another three-pointer and Emma Smolik put up two points. Leading the Falcons in the third the score was 36-34.

In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals fell behind while the Falcons picked up some momentum. Tiffany Wells, Shiann Spady, and Abby Cervera all put up two points in the fourth quarter. However, that just wasn’t quite enough to finish it out. Alma lost a close game with a final score of 42-49.
