Last Wrestling Tournament Before Districts in Loup City

The Alma Wrestlers traveled to Loup City Duals, on Friday to compete in their last tournament before Districts which will be held Friday and Saturday in Elm Creek. Wrestling begins Friday at 3:30 and Saturday at 9:30.

The team had a good night of wrestling, they were able to win two duals against Scribner-Snyder 30-18 and Arcadia/Loup City 30-30 (we had more pins thus winning the dual). As we head to Districts this week some statistical leaders are Hector Lugo (195) with a 25-8 record the teams lone senior is looking to earn a chance at state this his final year. Sophomore Kyle Johnson (132) is 26-13 and has been wrestling well. Joseph Felix (160) is 29-12 leads the team with 57 take downs has 21 pins and has been working toward this week from last summer when he was wrestling at summer camps. Tyson McCurdy (170) with a 30-12 record leads the team in escapes has had the goal of making it to state all year and has been working hard to get that chance this week. Sophomore Daylan Russell (145) leads the team with a 37-8 record and 27 pins and reversals, he’s new to the team this year and brought a new set of skills to the wrestling room.
CJ Graf (HWT), Marc Ramirez (126) and Diego Campos (152) have all improved this season and practice hard every day, they will also be competing at Districts with a chance to earn a trip to state next week.
