Medicine Valley End Alma’s Season

Alm struggled to get started against a very athletic Medicine Valley team.  They were outscored 17-9 in the first quarter.  Alma was lead in scoring by David Ehrke with 6 points all from the paint.  David missed his one free throw.  Jackso McKenzie had one 2 point basket and missed the free throw and Cooper Wright was 1 for 2 from the line. medicine Valley had 4 players with 4 or more points in the first quarter.

Alma rallied in the second quarter and was only outscored 11-14.  Jackson McKenzie and David Ehrke led Alma with 4 points each.  Jackson had one 2 point basket and was 2 for 4 from the line.  David Ehrke had one 2 point basket and was 2 for 2 from the line.  Burke Boehler hit one 3 pointer to round out the scoring for the Cardinals.  Justin Bailey from Arapahoe had 3 three-point baskets in the 2nd quarter.  Alma headed to the locker room down 31-20 at the half.

Alma hung with the Raiders in the 3rd quarter only getting outscored by 5.  Jackson McKenzie was on fire this quarter.  He drove the lane and was fouled several times.  Jackson had 4 two-point baskets and was 6 for 6 from the line for a total of 14 points.  Myles McTee missed the front end of a one on one.  Cooper Wright was 1 for 2 from the line and David Ehrke had one 2 point basket.   Alma trailed Medicine Valley 37-53.

Alma proved yet again that they are a great 4th quarter team.  The outscored the Raiders 19-16 but that was not enough to overcome the deficit from the first three quarters.  Jackson McKenzie continued to drive the lane and had 11 points.  He had three 2 point baskets and was 5 for 5 from the line.  Isaac McCurdy had one 3 pointer, David Ehrke had one 3 pointer and Cooper Wright had one 2 pointer and was 0 for 1 from the line.   Alma fell to Medicine Valley in the first round of Sub-Districts 56-69.  Congratulations to the seniors on a great season.
