Peter and the Wolf

The kindergarteners are learning that music can really enhance a story. The fairy tale of Peter and the Wolf uses different instruments to represent each character. Here is their favorite character/instrument set to music of Peter and the Wolf by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev.

What A Wonderful World

One of my favorite units of study with the 1st grade is our unit on jazz music. We talk about the instruments in each of the jazz ensemble families and discuss jazz legend Louis Armstrong. The students recreate art work to his famous recording of the song, “What A Wonderful World.”

Rounds

The 5th graders learned the round “To Stop the Train.” Here they are performing it as a round in groups of 2 and 4.

Sousa~The March King

The 4th graders have been studying American composers. John Philip Sousa was known as the March King. Here are pictures of them performing the cup song to his famous “Washington Post March.”
