African Music

The 2nd graders just finished a unit on African music. Not only did they get to learn about various African countries, but they got to play African instruments, sing African songs, and enjoy this African musical game, “Obwisana”.

The 2nd graders have been learning about the music from Africa. We have learned about many different African countries and the kinds of instruments used to make their special music. Last week, we learned a stick passing game. Children in Ghana often use rocks, but we used our musical rhythm sticks. Enjoy their video below!


Learning About the Half Note

The 2nd graders have hit the ground running in music class and have already learned about a new note…the half note. To help us internalize the half note, we practiced the song “Draw A Bucket of Water” with a 2 beat pulse. Check out their video below!
