Welcome back to School!

I am so excited to begin the school year here at Alma Public Schools. It is such a privilege to be joining Alma’s team of expert teachers, and I can’t wait to meet all the students and their parents.

Grading in the music room will mainly be based on participation. There will be one point of participation for ever day they are in class. If they are doing what I have asked them to do, they get the point, if they aren’t, then they get a zero for the day. I will enter the total points for the week on Friday.

4-6th grade will also have a listening grade every week. There are three possible points: 1 point for having the title and composer written down, and then 1 point for each valid fact or observation they have about the piece they are listening to. Guidelines for these facts have been gone over in class, and the students know it is not acceptable to just write, “I like this song,” or “This song sounds cool.” Failure to follow these guidelines will result in a lower listening grade for the week.

Other grades will come from in class assignments and group projects, based on an understanding of main concepts. All grades will be posted on Powerschool for access at any time.

Please take a moment to look around this site and search out the specific information for the grade you are looking for.

Looking forward to a great year,

Mrs. Fritz
