The Saints have an Amazing game

Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity defeated Gothenburg 11-5 on Saturday thanks to six runs in the second inning. The Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity’s big inning was driven by a error, a home run by Sydney Scharvin, a single by Erika Barwick, and a passed ball. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. In the bottom of the first inning, Gothenburg tied things up at one. An error scored one run for Gothenburg. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity took the lead for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second there was an error, scoring one run, Sydney Scharvin homered off of Avery Dunphy, driving in three runs, and Erika Barwick singled off of Bailey Coulter, driving in one run. Maddie Cervera earned the win for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. She went six innings, giving up five runs, seven hits, and striking out four. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity collected 13 hits. Barwick, Haley Witte, Kyanna Kring, and Scharvin each collected multiple hits for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Scharvin and Barwick each drove in three runs to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity.

In the super close second game Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity took the lead late and defeated St. Paul 8-7 on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Janesa Kring hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Despite falling down by five runs in the first inning, St. Paul tried to fight back. St. Paul scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a single by Becca Bentz in the fourth, a triple by Shelby Dammann in the fourth, a single by Jaime Wilson in the fourth, a single by MvKenna Gross in the fifth, a single by Sydney Wells in the fifth, and a in the fifth. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Maddie Cervera drove in two runs when she singled. St. Paul scored four runs in the fourth inning. St. Paul’s big inning was driven by a single by Bentz, a triple by Dammann, and a single by Wilson. Cervera earned the win for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. She tossed one and one-third innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, striking out two, and walking zero. Abby Cervera started the game for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. She threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs, eight hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Cervera led Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity with three runs batted in. She went 2-for-3 on the day. Wells led St. Paul with two hits in three at bats.

In their third game the Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity defeated Minden 9-3 thanks to a strong start. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity scored on a single by Maddie Cervera and a single by Kyanna Kringin the first inning. Minden scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Minden came thanks to a error and a single by Trinity Olson. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Maddie Cervera singled on a 1-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity scored six runs in the third inning. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity’s big inning was driven by a double by Cervera, a walk , and a grand slam by Kaylla Hardenbrook. Minden scored three runs in the fourth inning. Minden’s big inning was driven by a error and a single by Olson. Abby Cervera earned the win for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. She threw four innings, allowing three runs, two hits, and striking out five. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity collected seven hits. Cervera and Kyanna Kring each collected multiple hits for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Kring and Cervera each collected two hits to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Minden didn’t commit a single error in the field. Lindsay Scanlan had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
