Alma Boys Comeback Not Enough

The Alma boys Basketball Team traveled to Bertrand, Friday November 29th for their first official game of the season. Although the boys couldn’t quite find their rhythm and teamwork they still played well game.  Starting off strong in the first quarter Jackson McKenzie scored 7 points. From the 7 points, Jackson made two, 2-pointers and one 3-pointer. Also scoring in the first quarter, Isaac McCurdy scored a 2-pointer. Bertrand scored 18 points, making the final score of the quarter 9-18.

Jarod Asche takes some of the spotlight in the second quarter scoring a total of five points. Jarod made one 2-pointer and one 3-pointer. Also sharing the spotlight Jackson McKenzie scored a 3-pointer and made all 4 of his free-throws. Jackson scored a total of 7 points this quarter. Even though Alma fought back Bertrand fought back harder scoring 15 points in quarter two. The score at the end of two quarters of play was 21-33.

Alma really fought back hard in quarter three making a total of 20 points! Balanced shooting by the team had Carter Davis, Burke Boehler, Marcus Pineda, and Issac McCurdy all making a 2-pointer. Isaac also made a 3-pointer. Jackson McKenzie also helped out the team big time in this quarter by scoring four baskets for two points and making his 1 free-throw shot. Bertrand was able to score 16 points. With this huge comeback, the score ate end of quarter three was 41-49.

With one quarter left Alma knew they had to give it all you got. Burke Boehler really stepped it up this quarter making a 2-pointer and a 3-pointer, scoring a total of 5 points for the team. Carter Davis made both of his free-throws to help out. Jackson Mckenzie also scored a 2-pointer and made 1 free-throw shot. Alma scored 10 points this quarter but the defense couldn’t stop the Bertrand offense and they scored 12 points. Making the final score of the game 51-61. Although Alma boys fought back extremely well, they couldn’t quite find the strength needed to take this win.
