SVA Saints Varsity Claims Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Chadron

SVA Saints Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Chadron on Friday. The game was tied at four with Chadron batting in the top of the fifth when Micah Stouffer hit a solo homer.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as SVA Saints Varsity collected five hits and Chadron five in the high-scoring affair

Chadron took an early lead in the second inning when Bristyn Cummings grounded out, scoring one run.

SVA Saints Varsity evened things up at seven in the bottom of the seventh inning. Emma Joppa hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Kynlee Marquez was the winning pitcher for SVA Saints Varsity. She allowed five hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out five.

Stouffer took the loss for Chadron. She allowed five hits and eight runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

PJ Dubbs led SVA Saints Varsity with two hits in three at-bats.

Chadron racked up five hits on the day. Makayla Wild and Stouffer each racked up multiple hits for Chadron.
