Alma lost a hard-fought defensive battle against Amherst on August 27th. It was a 0-25 defeat after four quarters.
In the first quarter, Amherst scored a touchdown and got a safety. Shortly after the safety, Alma’s Jason Stenka forced a fumble and Alma recovered the ball. They held onto the ball until the end of the first quarter. At the start of the second quarter, Alma fumbled the ball on the two-yard line, bringing us to halftime.
During the third quarter, Alma and Amherst could not find a way to score on each other. In the fourth quarter, Amherst dissected Alma’s defense, scoring twice before the end of the game. Alma’s leading rusher was River Eddy who had a total of 24 yards. The leading tackler on the defense for Alma was Ayden Molzhan who had 10.5 total.
