Softball plays Holdrege in an opening tournament game. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity had a tough time generating runs on Saturday, dropping their game with Holdrege 10-3. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning. An error scored one run for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Holdrege evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when #15 singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Holdrege pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Holdrege. Holdrege scored four runs in the third inning. Holdrege big bats were led by #9 and #11, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. #7 pitched Holdrege to victory. The fireballer went six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out ten and walking zero. Emma Joppa took the loss for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. The righty allowed nine hits and ten runs over five and a third innings, striking out three and walking one. Kaylee Baker went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity in hits.Holdrege saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. #15 and #7 each managed multiple hits for Holdrege.

Even though Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity gave up five runs in the second inning, they still defeated Chadron 11-7 on Saturday. The big inning for Chadron came thanks to by Kinley Richardson, by Josslyn Pourier, an error on a ball put in play by Maci Rutledge, and a double by Aubrey Milburn. There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity collected nine hits and Chadron had eight. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity got things started in the first inning. Natasha Hock singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Emma Joppa earned the win for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out one. Demaris Kelso took the loss for Chadron. Kelso went one inning, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out two. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity launched one home run on the day. Joppa went yard in the second inning. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity tallied nine hits. Brynn Bailey, Hock, and Joppa all managed multiple hits for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Bailey went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity in hits. Chadron tallied eight hits on the day. Milburn and Kelso all managed multiple hits for Chadron.
