The Alma Lady Cards played a fantastic game on Monday night against Southwest on January 24th, for the ¼ final of RPAC. The girls started off the first quarter strong with Addison Neal making five points by the way of a three-pointer and a field goal, Madison Wolfe making two, and Addison Siebels making a two-pointer and making 3 of her 4 free throws. Balanced scoring from the Roughriders had 5 girls scoring for a total of 13 points. This made the score at the end of one quarter, 12-13 with Southwest taking the lead.
The girls kept their rhythm in the second quarter, with Stuhmer starting off with a field goal, Addison Neal making three, Siebels making one field goal, and Abbi Fox making a field goal. Kaylee Baker rounded out the scoring making 1 of her 2 free throws. This had the Cardinals with 13 points this quarter. Alma was able to hold Southwest to 10 points with their impressive defense. This made the score 23-25 in favor of the Cardinals.
The Alma Lady Cards came back refreshed and ready after halftime, with Riley making six points by two three-pointers, Addison Siebels making four with two field goals, Neal making three-pointer, and Stuhmer making a field goal. Riley Scott finished the 3rd quarter scoring by making both of her free throws. The Cardinals trapping press threw fits for the Roughriders, holding them to 5 points. They only made one 3 pointer and one field goal. The score at the end of three is 42-28.
The girls finished the game strong with Stuhmer making both of her free throws, Addison Siebels making a field goal and missing both her free throws, Kaylee Baker making 1 of her 2 free throws, and Riley and Abbi making both of their free throws. The strong free-throw shooting from the Cardinals helps ensure the victory. The cardinals shot 7-10 from the line. This left the final score 51-40 with the Cardinals outlasting the late run by the Roughriders.
