On the 25th of January, the Alma boys basketball team played against Southern Valley Eagles for their second game of RPAC. Alma had balanced scoring with Ryan Kermmoade making a two-pointer and a three-pointer. Peyton Herrick also made 2 field goals, and Jakin Neal was 1-2 from the line and made 3 pointer. Although four players from Southern Valley had points, Alma lead 13 to 8 at the end of the half.
The Cardinals started to fall behind in the second quarter with only two baskets made, while Southern Valley broke out with 19 points. Ryan Brugh made a three-pointer, and Jakin Neal made 2 points, leaving the score at the end of the quarter at 27 to 18.
In the 3rd quarter, Alma was able to step up the defense and held Southern Valley to 5. Scoring for the Cardinals was Jakin Neal with 2 field goals, Payton Herrick made 2 field goals and 1 out of three free throws. Daniel Cook came into the game and makes a three-pointer. Leaving the score 30-32 with Southern Valley in the lead.
Coming off a low-scoring quarter, Southern Valley was able to score 14 points as they pumped up their defense to hold Alma to 6 points. Scoring for Alma was Peyton made 2 points and Jakin made 2 field goals. The final score was 36 to 46 with the Eagles soaring over the Cardinals.
