The 15 day Chinese New Year celebration finished today for both 2nd Grade classes. This year, 2020, is the Year of the Rat. They made Chinese Lanterns, red envelopes, and Chinese hats in Social Studies. They also read Chinese stories, watched videos, learned about the Zodiac, played a Kahoot, and learned about their birth year signs. To finish their unit, they did some Chinese cooking. Each child made an egg roll and then they made Chicken Fried Rice. They enjoyed cooking using woks and trying to eat using chopsticks. Both classes would like to wish everyone “Gong Hey Fat Choy” (Happy Chinese New Year). #ProudToBeACardinal
The HS Basketball teams headed down to Northern Valley this evening to take on the Huskies. At the end of the night the Varsity Girls won handily and the JV and Varsity Boys just couldn’t quite come back for the win. Way to fight everyone! #ProudToBeACardinal

The HS Basketball team took on Southern Valley tonight. The JV Girls and Boys both won their games, and Alma Public Schools once again achieved victory in the annual food drive competition with Southern Valley! Mrs. Blank's 3rd grade has been learning about problem-solving, overcoming challenges, and working as a team. Today they had the challenge of making the longest paper chain from a single piece of paper with a time limit. They had time to plan their strategy before they started. After they finished they shared what their greatest struggles were, what worked well for their team, if they had to change their original strategy and how they worked together as a team! #ProudToBeACardinal

We are hatching chicks in the 2nd Grade classrooms. Elena Stout, Extension Educator, came and discussed Embryology with both 2nd Grade classes. After learning about it, each child initialed and placed an egg into the incubator. Now the wait begins for 21 days to see our baby chicks! 🐥 #ProudToBeACardinal

Schedule/event changes for this week: The JV game with Arapahoe is only 2 quarters starting at 5:30 with varsity to follow. The JH girls added a game with Northern Valley on Feb. 6th. "B" Team at 3 and "A" team at 5. They alternate with the NV boys against someone else.
