Cardinal Spotlight - Ariel Neumeyer, K-12 School Psychologist
Ariel Neumeyer grew up just outside of Alma on a farm and graduated from Alma
Public Schools. She attended college at the University of Nebraska-Kearney where she earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and then her graduate degree as an Education Specialist in School Psychology. Her first job as a School Psychologist was for Lincoln Public Schools. After 3 years of living in Lincoln, she and her husband, Will, had the opportunity to move back to their
family farm. They returned to Alma knowing this would be a good place to raise our family. She had the opportunity to work for the Educational Service Unit 11 in Holdrege for the past 4 years where she was able to serve several area school districts.
She is blessed with a loving and supportive husband. Will owns and operates a dirt excavation company. They have three children who fill their lives with joy and spontaneity and fun. Wyatt is the oldest, he is 5 years old and will be starting Kindergarten at APS this school year. He and Ariel are beyond excited that they get to experience their First Day of School together! Josephine is their second child, she is 3 years old and will start her first year of preschool at Under the Umbrella this fall. Walker is the youngest and will be 2 years old this coming August. They enjoy spending their free time together. Their favorite places to be are outside, at the lake, and with family.
Ariel is thankful the opportunity arose to work in her hometown. The community is extraordinary and she is grateful to be able to give back and invest in this great school district. She is excited to be close to her kids, family and friends. Ariel is proud to be Cardinal again to serve and support teachers, school staff, students, and families through her work as a school psychologist. Welcome back to the Cardinal family, Ariel! #ProudToBeACardinal

Cardinal Families:
We wanted to reach out, as we creep closer to the start of another amazing school year, to remind everyone that this coming year lunch fees are going back to how it was before the impact of Covid allowed all students to eat for free. Unfortunately, the USDA did not approve the waiver to allow for the continuation of free meals for all students.
With that being said, we wanted to provide you with a list of lunch and breakfast prices for the upcoming school year. The prices will remain the same as they were during the 2019-2020 school year and are as follows:
Breakfast $1.60
Elementary Lunch (K-6) $2.55
Secondary Lunch (7-12) $2.95
Reduced Breakfast $0.30
Reduced Lunch $0.40
Adult Breakfast $2.10
Adult Lunch $3.70
*We also really, really, really need everyone's help this year and are asking that families fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch forms. This is vital for several reasons. First and foremost, seeing if your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch status can save a family lots of money on lunch and breakfast fees. Second, the district has an accurate count of families qualifying for free and reduced lunch also has an impact on other federal and state funding streams we receive.
All lunch information is confidential. We are here to help families, and in this day and age with the cost of living so high and the impact gas prices are having on us all; we want to help save your family some money now that lunch and breakfast fees are coming back into the equation.Your help is very much needed and appreciated.
Be safe and have an AWESOME remaining summer, Cardinals!!! #ProudToBeACardinal

Cardinal Spotlight - Taylor Simmons
Taylor Simmons is originally from Vail, Iowa. She lived there until she decided to join the military right after graduation. She served in the US Air Force for 7 years at Offutt Air Force Base, NE. During that time she met her husband, Chris Simmons, and they had their son, Koe, last year. Before moving to Alma, they lived in Plattsmouth, NE. They decided to make the jump and move closer to their family here in Alma for their son. Taylor is excited about becoming a Cardinal because she loves seeing the kids grow every year and having the ability to see her son eventually go to school where her husband graduated from. Welcome to the Cardinal family, Taylor!! #ProudToBeACardinal

In an effort to be proactive with the safety of our students and staff in mind, Alma Public Schools had a forester from Nebraska Forest Service come and evaluate the trees on the east side of the school. It was determined the trees would need to be removed. We wanted to communicate this information to our stakeholders in the district. In the near future we will be replacing these trees with healthy ones. #ProudToBeACardinal
